I am an artist and filmmaker from Athens, based in South London. My practice combines moving image, sculpture, projection and sound.I explore existential themes with a sense of play and curiosity, collecting and reworking fragments of everyday life that carry personal and emotional significance. OR I explore existential themes with a sense of play and curiosity, often drawing from personal experiences, memories and everyday life. I see fun as an important part of the making process.
My main practice is in experimental animation. I enjoy creating rhythmic dialogue between drawing, collage and sound through editing. Through sound, I explore rhythm and contrast, sometimes allowing it to support the image and sometimes work against it. Alongside animation, I create suspended sculptures using hanging materials and floating objects to explore motion in physical space. These two ways of exploring motion often come together through projected moving image on soft hanging sculptures, which is then filmed and edited.
Using raw materials and found footage allows the work to feel organic and fragile, while leaving room for spontaneity and chance. Rough edges, marks and imperfections are intentionally left visible as a way of resisting polished results and keeping the making process present within the work.
I often begin project by asking “what if” questions. Objects found around me are scanned, photographed, drawn and traced before being brought together and edited into animated moving images, alongside recorded sounds collected along the way. Intuition and curiosity drive this process.
